Manchester City and Liverpool are reportedly eyeing PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko as a potential transfer target for the upcoming summer window. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, a number of elite European clubs, including Manchester City and Liverpool, are showing interest in signing Bakayoko from PSV.
The 20-year-old Bakayoko has been in great form in the Eredivisie, contributing nine assists and five goals in 26 games in the Eredivisie and Champions League this season. PSV Eindhoven currently sits at the top of the Eredivisie table with a ten-point lead, and Bakayoko has played a significant role in their success. He has scored a total of 13 goals for PSV, along with 20 goals for their reserve team before breaking through.
Bakayoko’s performance in the Champions League has also garnered attention, making him a target for many high-ranking European clubs. His pace and ability to create opportunities have made him one of the most sought-after targets in the transfer market.
Liverpool’s interest in Bakayoko dates back to last summer, and the potential signing could provide a long-term solution for the club given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future. Bakayoko could become a successor to Salah, who is approaching the final year of his contract with the club at 32 years old.
Alternatively, Manchester City has also expressed interest in Bakayoko’s services, with the possibility of linking up with compatriots Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium. With their evolving attack and the departure of key players last summer, the addition of Bakayoko would strengthen their squad.
A bidding war could potentially ensue for the 20-year-old winger, as both Manchester City and Liverpool have shown interest in him. This could result in a profitable deal for PSV, who would welcome offers from two of the biggest clubs in English football.
Bakayoko’s future seems promising, as his performances have caught the eye of top European teams, and it remains to be seen where he will end up playing next.
