Manchester City are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo, as per Fichajes.net.
The Japanese international has been highly touted, and there are indications that City might be considering activating the player’s €60m (£51m) release clause this summer.
Supporters on social media are expressing their enthusiasm for City to pursue Kubo, although some are skeptical about whether he would receive significant playing time if he were to move to the Etihad.
@fiifibansonjnr: “Get Him City”
@Mindless_min: “bring him on”
@Omthebear: “Baller but he won’t get the play time here”
@FantiKid: “Take will be best fit and a long term replacement for if and when Bernardo leaves. I’ll Take”
@AJaviour: “Where will he play please. Why do we tend to sign everything we are already battling financial fair play rules cases and now we are still signing everything we have over 8 players who can play forward sometimes we need to let some players find other teams”
Should City push ahead with a deal for the Japanese star?
Kubo has also been linked with other Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham in the past year.
But City’s main competition in acquiring the 22-year-old comes from Real Madrid. The winger initially joined Real Sociedad from the Spanish giants, who have a buyback clause in his contract allowing them to re-sign him for just €30m (£26m).
Despite already having a strong lineup of wingers that includes Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva, City are still considering a move for Kubo due to his promising potential and the existence of the buyout fee.
It is uncertain whether City will make an offer for Kubo at the end of the season, as it could be argued that they already have sufficient depth in that position.
Nonetheless, fans and pundits are intrigued by the possibility of the young Japanese star joining City, as he could potentially provide long-term assistance and act as a replacement for Bernardo Silva in the future.
Whether City will ultimately push for a deal remains to be seen, but the speculation surrounding Kubo’s potential move to the Etihad continues to gather interest.
