Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol is at the center of a strange TikTok incident involving Anthony Elanga, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest and previously played for Manchester United.
The 22-year-old defender made a €90 million move to Manchester City from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window, joining his international teammate Mateo Kovacic at the Etihad Stadium.
Gvardiol quickly made a name for himself in the Bundesliga, winning the DFB Pokal with RB Leipzig and scoring against both Real Madrid and Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League last season.
He also had a strong showing at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with manager Zlatko Dalic describing him as the “best centre-back in the world” after a match against Belgium.
Since joining Manchester City, Gvardiol has made 25 appearances for the team, often playing at left-back instead of his natural centre-back position.
He has already won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with the Sky Blues and has started 14 of Manchester City’s 20 Premier League matches. He also started in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in September.
However, despite his success, Gvardiol became the subject of a strange outburst on TikTok by Anthony Elanga, who referred to him as a “dead player” on Nottingham Forest’s official account during a ‘football ranking’ video.
Elanga, who moved to Nottingham Forest for £15 million in July, also rated Manchester City’s John Stones as 7th and placed Joao Cancelo in 2nd place.
The tension between the two players sets the stage for an upcoming match between Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
The Blues are scheduled to travel to the City Ground on Saturday 27th April, and this encounter adds an extra layer of anticipation after Nottingham Forest managed to take points from Manchester City in the previous season.
