Manchester City have informed Watford and two other Championship clubs that they will not be able to sign Micah Hamilton. This information comes from Fabrizio Romano. The update on Micah Hamilton is as follows.
Romano stated: “Watford have approached Man City in the recent days to sign Micah Hamilton on loan. Two more Championship clubs also asked for loan this month but City have no plans to let Hamilton leave. Understand Man City want Micah to stay with first team.”
Hamilton made headlines earlier this season by scoring on his debut in the UEFA Champions League. He scored the first goal in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. Other than his UEFA Champions League performance, the 20-year-old only made a 14-minute appearance in the 5-0 FA Cup win over Huddersfield.
In our view, a loan move would be beneficial for Hamilton, as he has hardly played any senior football since his UEFA Champions League debut. With the return of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne to bolster the attacking line, it is difficult to see where Hamilton’s chances of playing time will come. Given this, a loan move to another club might provide him with more opportunities to display his talent.
The Manchester City No. 92 is currently not a priority for City’s first team. It appears that Guardiola has no real urgency to integrate Hamilton into the squad, and a loan deal seems more beneficial at this time.
Despite this, Micah Hamilton continues to warm the bench and rarely sees any game time at Manchester City. Therefore, it is unclear how Hamilton fits into Guardiola’s plans for the team. In the meantime, he may have to look for opportunities at other clubs to gain regular playing time and further develop his potential in professional football.
