Former Technical Director of Bayern Munich and Head of European Football at ICM Stellar, Michael Reschke, has recently confirmed interest in Joshua Kimmich.
Reports of interest from Manchester City in the Bayern Munich mainstay first emerged earlier this month, with suggestions that the Premier League champions would be open to a deal in January due to Kimmich’s contract stand-off with the German giants.
However, with no further developments, some have questioned whether the interest from various clubs was a negotiation tactic to drive up Bayern Munich’s offer to the player.
According to an industry insider, Joshua Kimmich is attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs, all of which are in the top six of the division.
Michael Reschke revealed this insight during an interview with Sky in Germany, stating that there is interest from clubs in the Premier League and even rumors of interest from Barcelona.
He also mentioned that Paris had shown interest in Kimmich, but he believes that the emotional bond Kimmich has with Bayern Munich is very strong and a matter of the heart.
“There are rumours about Barcelona possibly having interest. And in the Premier League – I can assure you, without revealing too many background details – there is definitely interest in Joshua, not from clubs ranked sixth and below, but in the region upwards,” Reschke explained.
“I can imagine that Joshua Kimmich might take on a new challenge at some point. On the other hand, I am quite certain that Paris was not a consideration for him. Paris had interest, yes. It’s not the only top club interested in Joshua.”
He continued, “Joshua’s connection to Bayern – the emotional bond he has with the club – is very strong. It’s a matter of the heart.”
Meanwhile, in the midfield department at Manchester City, Kalvin Phillips is expected to finalize his move to West Ham United, signing an initial six-month loan deal with an option to buy in the summer market.
Phillips was signed by City from Leeds United for £45 million in 2022, but his failure to integrate into Pep Guardiola’s playing style has seen him fall to the bottom of the Catalan’s midfield pecking order.
Overall, there appears to be genuine interest in Joshua Kimmich from top clubs, and it remains to be seen if a potential move will materialize in the future.
Meanwhile, Phillips is set to make a move to West Ham United as he looks to revitalize his career away from Manchester City.
