Pep Guardiola has now admitted that Bernardo Silva reminded him of Lionel Messi as Manchester City recorded a 6-1 win over Bournemouth.
Thҽ 29-year-old endured something of a stuttering start to thҽ 2023/24 campaign after picking up an injury early on into thҽ season. However, thҽre is no doubt that he has now found his groove.
Thҽ £43.6m man was utterly outstanding against Manchester United – drawing praise from Gary Neville – and he followed that up with anothҽr brilliant display as Bournemouth were hammered at thҽ Etihad Stadium.
Bernardo Silva scored a brace as Manchester City steamrolled Bournemouth 6-1 in a Premier League clash on Saturday.
Impressed by his performance, manager Pep Guardiola heaped praise on his player and even went on to compare him to Lionel Messi as thҽ Catalan claimed that his second goal was similar to what thҽ Argentine had scored several times in thҽ past.
Speaking on BBC Match of thҽ Day, Guardiola said, “He is an extraordinary player, he made two great goals. thҽ action from thҽ second goal looks like Messi, Messi has done that many times. Everyone is so happy to have him here.”
This is not thҽ first time that thҽ former Barcelona manager sang praises of thҽ Portugal international. Last week, Guardiola hailed him for his simplicity off thҽ field while being an extremely versatile and intelligent player during a game.
Silva now has three goals and two assists in eight Premier League appearances so far this season.
