RB Leipzig manager doesn’t rule out Man City signing Dani Olmo

RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has not ruled out the possibility of Dani Olmo joining Manchester City this summer.

Following the departures of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, City have been exploring various options for bolstering their attacking options.

The news that Kevin de Bruyne will be out of action until next year after undergoing surgery on his hamstring has added a sense of urgency to the hunt for a new midfielder.

City are keen to sign winger Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennes, and have been linked with West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Over the last few days, reports that City want to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo have gathered momentum.

According to various reports, the Bundesliga side would demand £68m for the Spanish international, as the £51m release clause in his contract does not become active until next year.

Speaking to the media this week, Leipzig boss Rose didn’t rule out the departure of his star man.

“There are too many rumours,” he said, as reported by The Sun.

“At some points it’s enough. We lost many players in the end I need a team to play football with.

“As far as Olmo to City goes, I could say ‘never ever’ but I won’t say it.”

City have already signed Josko Gvardiol from Leipzig this summer in a £77.5m deal, depriving Rose of one of his key players.

City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be an admirer of Olmo, and it’s easy to see why.

The 25-year-old ran riot in the German Super Cup final last weekend, scoring a hat-trick as Leipzig beat Bayern Munich 3-0.

The versatile midfielder scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions last season.
