Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims are interested in Cole Palmer, who could be used as a makeweight in talks over a potential deal for Lucas Paqueta.
Palmer scored against Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday and has looked set for a more regular role at City this season following the departure of Riyad Mahrez.
However, with City actively working on a deal to lure Paqueta from the London Stadium, Palmer may once again find himself forced to settle for a bit-part role.
As a result, West Ham will look to include the 21-year-old in negotiations with City over talisman Paqueta, either on loan or as part of a permanent move.
That is according to the Evening Standard, who add that David Moyes may play Jarrod Bowen as a striker and deploy Palmer down the right wing instead.
Confirmation of the development came shortly after Skysport reported themselves that West Ham have a strong interest in Manchester City forward Palmer and have begun talks to explore a deal for the 21-year-old.
As per the report, the talks centre around a loan. And it is not clear whether there would be any option to buy.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@YusrizalYunus: “Loan only!”
@toxiCc_FC: “Loan sounds better”
@ltsMark: “Get it done City. It’s a no-brainier if we can agree a season long loan instead of a sale. We get the player we want and Palmer gets the week in week out Prem experience that he needs.”
@al95city: “That would be good for him and us”
@AdTeopista: “Why not Kalvin Phillips?”
@izzy900is: “I’d rather we gave them Phillips
No way we’ll give them Palmer”
@FansHalaand: Would be happy if Palmer goes to Brighton on loan. Hopefully he can get some playing time. Otherwise , we can still keep him..”
