Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are keen on signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

The Sky Blues and Pep Guardiola have already added to their treble-winning squad this summer by bringing in Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea in a deal worth a total of £30m.

However, Ilkay Gundogan, who played a key role in City’s success last season with two goals in the FA Cup final, has decided to join Barcelona on a free transfer after his contract expired at the Etihad.

Therefore, it looks as if Kovacic will fill the void left by Gundogan ahead of the 2023/24 season, but more new faces could arrive before the window shuts on September 1.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City, along with rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, all want to sign Joshua Kimmich this summer, with the Germany international keen on leaving the Allianz Arena.

And it is claimed that all three Premier League heavyweights ‘will begin to send proposals’ to Bayern in a bid to ‘finalise’ a deal.

Kimmich would be a useful acquisition for all three clubs, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to submit an official proposal to sign the player.

Capable of playing as a right-back, holding midfielder or central midfielder, the £300,000-a-week man has already worked under Guardiola.

The 28-year-old German international is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make an immediate impact in the Premier League if the transfer goes through.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@KevinDeHaaland: “Wish it would happen but it’s extremely unlikely”

@et1hadd: “Unrealistic”

@Bliszbobbyy: “I don’t see it happening”

@Tim_Citeh: “This signing will make Pep sign new contract”

@mcfcbobb: “If this happens we could ship Kalvin off the other direction”

@ItsGettinRanney: “Kimmich, Gvardiol and a winger and our transfer window turns into a 9/10 imo”
