Paris Saint Germain have give up on their quest to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City, according to claims from France.
City fans are really hoping that the Portugal international won’t depart. It has been suggested that he would like to leave the club this summer following the Treble win.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Silva reportedly has little interest in making the move to the Middle East. There is substantial interest in the winger from PSG and Barcelona, with the report stating he would be keen to explore the deal and talk to both clubs.
With Barcelona’s financial troubles reportedly scuppering any chance of a deal, it would appear Luis Enrique’s PSG are the front runners for the player’s signature.
According to Le 10 Sport as relayed by Sport Witness today, the Ligue 1 side have ‘failed in all directions for two months’, and are now giving up their pursuit.
It’s recalled that, for a long time, PSG already had an agreement with Bernardo Silva to make the move, and even had the support from his agent Jorge Mendes.
As per the report, Paris Saint-Germain tried ‘everything’, making two bids, with their most recent offer being for a €60M move.
As it stands, no club has come forward to make a concrete bid for the player. Hopefully, that remains the case as the new season approaches.
As City prepare for another gruelling campaign where the club will be required to defend their treble, losing key players like Bernardo Silva will not be good for the team.
Sure, the player has paid his dues and deserves a move elsewhere if that’s his desire. But staying longer at City, and achieving even more, gets him closer to attaining legendary status at the club.
