Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Liverpool are considering a move for Kalvin Phillips as a replacement for Fabinho.
Phillips was outstanding for Leeds United, being described as ‘exceptional’ by pundit Danny Higginbotham, and secured himself a big £45million move to City last summer.
The switch didn’t quite work out last season as Phillips found himself stuck behind Rodri in City’s midfield pecking order.
Phillips ended up starting just two Premier League games for City and his future has been brought into question.
Despite Phillips wanting to stay and prove himself under Pep Guardiola, he is on the radar for Liverpool as they seek to bring in somebody to replace Fabinho.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Phillips is ‘under consideration’ as the Reds plot another midfield move.
Whether Manchester City would sell to Liverpool is unclear but Phillips is on the Anfield wish list after a tricky first season at City.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@GrealishdaGoat: “Is there genuinely any club in the world not interested in Kalvin Philips at the moment?”
@Mustaine_szn: “Just saying if Liverpool and Bayern want him he’s clearly good and whose better at getting the best out of players than Pep. I’m backing him next year”
@HOWARD30148315: “City loosing the plot if that happens”
@SndorKovcs11: “Not for sale, especially to LFC.”
@seitler94: “I reckon they have our whole squad on their wish list – keep on wishing”
@LeibeFutbol: “No. I actually hope KP chooses to stay! Liverpool would be perfect for him in terms of game time and being key player which is what I fear”
@abby6556: “Phillips is going nowhere, you need a season to to fit into the way City play.
Next season we will see the player that he is for England.”
