Fabrizio Romano has said that Manchester City are still pursuing a transfer deal for Josko Gvardiol.
The Citizens have been linked with a move for the RB Leipzig defender for weeks after having agreed personal terms with him over a month ago.
Pep Guardiola wants the central defender to shore up his defence but saw a bid worth £77million ($99m) rejected earlier this summer as the Bundesliga side want at least £86m ($109.95).
Now though, Romano has been discussing the latest state of affairs surrounding City’s hunt for Gvardiol. Speaking on a recent episode of The Here We Go Podcast, he had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Let’s wait and see. They had an agreement in place, a medical booked then the leak was not so appreciated by those at Leipzig so it created a big mess around this story but let’s wait and see.
“I still think, and I’m still told that a deal is on, the conversation is on.
“They now maybe need to clarify something between the clubs because the player only wants to play with Manchester City and I’m told he’s been very clear with the people at RB Leipzig he wants to go there.”
Now that Romano has said that the conversations between Leipzig and City are still ongoing, this should encourage the City supporters that, one way or another, this transfer saga will come to an end, preferably with Gvardiol making his way to the Etihad Stadium.
