‘Just agent trying to hype’ – Man City fans react as club among the ‘options’ for wantaway Bayern Munich star

Manchester City are reportedly among the ‘options’ for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard to join this summer.

Over the past couple of days, it has become clear that Pavard wants to leave Bayern this summer.

The 27-year-old is reportedly unhappy with playing at fullback. Accordingly, he is hoping for a move to a team where he’ll play exclusively at centre-back.

Pavard’s current contract with Bayern expires at the end of next June. This means that, while the former Stuttgart and Lille defender cannot leave on a free transfer this month, he has leverage to make an exit.

Bayern must sell Pavard for a fee this summer if they want to cash in rather than lose him for free in a year’s time. There is a possibility that they could demand as much as €30m-€40m (£25.8m-£34.5m) to agree to any sale.

According to Journalist Georg Holzner via @iMiaSanMia, Manchester City have joined the list of clubs interested in Benjamin Pavard, according to the player’s entourage.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Inter have also enquired, with his main desire being to play centre-back at his new club.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
