A number of Manchester City supporters have reacted after it emerged that Pep Guardiola’s side will wear the current 2022/23 home shirt in the Emirates FA Cup and Champions League final.
Earlier this month City released their latest PUMA-designed kit for the forthcoming season, with a shirt and promotional campaign centred around the 20th anniversary of the club playing their home matches at the now-named Etihad Stadium.
As such, the early release sparked conversation as to whether supporters would catch a glimpse of the new kit in any of the remaining matches this season – specifically either of the upcoming cup finals.
With a moment in history pending as City edge closer towards a staggering treble achievement, the club have now confirmed what kits will be worn in the remaining three matches this season – including the final fixture in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola and his players close out the 2022/23 season at Brentford on Sunday afternoon, and Manchester City have now revealed that the contest will be the debut of the brand new Etihad Stadium-inspired 2023/24 home kit.
However, as part of the same announcement, Manchester City have also confirmed that they will then revert back to the 2022/23 kit for both the Emirates FA Cup and UEFA Champions League finals in London and Istanbul respectively.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
