Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will consider a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch if they miss out as expected on Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham had been touted as City’s No 1 target for several months until reports emerged that a move to Real Madrid seems to be on the cards for Bellingham, forcing interested clubs to look elsewhere.
Gravenberch now appears to be on the radar at the Etihad Stadium after a difficult first season at Bayern.
That is according to The Mirror, who claim that City are now ready to consider a deal for Gravenberch.
The 20-year-old completed a £20 million move to Bayern Munich at the start of the season and has been unable to hold down a regular starting spot.
He’s had to contend with Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka for a starting spot in Bayern’s midfield.
Gravenberch has only started two league games all season and two in the Champions League, which has sparked rumours of a summer exit.
It remains to be seen whether the Bavarian giants are prepared to cash in on the Dutchman this summer. They will probably look to recoup the £20 million they paid for him in the summer.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@debruynaaa: “What a downgrade!”
@Zahhir0: “Stay far from that guy, would be a bigger mistake than Phillips and that’s difficult”
@trevsenpai: “I’d rather keep Gundogan”
@ManCitizen06: “Would be so keen for this, so much potential in him”
@SxrgioSZN: “Pep can get his career back on track.”
@minbakedrice: “He was class at Ajax. Bayern just letting him rot on the bench”
@FeedingGoater: “Not good enough for Bayern but good enough for city. I very much doubt it..”
@7harry: “Would love it, was sensational at Ajax when I watched him. Shades of Pogba/Gundo hybrid, very high ceiling.”
@ManCitizen06: “I would absolutely love that! He’s a beast!”
