Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Real Madrid requested to UEFA that the 1st leg tie be moved to 10th, with the return leg 6 days later.
Following their respective quarter-final progressions this week, Manchester City and Real Madrid will face off in their showdown Champions League semi-final tie next month.
Manchester City saw off Bayern Munich with relative ease in their quarter-final match-up, while Real Madrid did the same against Chelsea. Both will feel they are in with a great chance of winning the competition.
May will be a busy month for both Manchester City and Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola’s side take on Leeds United with the first leg against Real at the Santiago Bernabeu on the 9th.
While Real Madrid take on Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final on the 6th, with the first leg against Man City at the Santiago Bernabeu on the 9th, and the second leg on the 17th.
According to Melchor Ruiz, Real Madrid requested to UEFA and the RFEF that the first leg of their tie with Man City be moved to the 10th, with the return leg in Manchester six days later. However, that has been turned down.
As a result, Real Madrid will have three days between the Copa del Rey final and the semi-final first leg while Manchester City just two days, which is far from ideal for both side.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@mcfc_Presh: “Wait, why are they complaining? We play on the 7th of May and then real Madrid 1st leg on the 9th on May while real Madrid play the Copa del rey final on the 6th of May so they get 1 day extra over us. In fact, we should be the ones to complain but we’ll take care of business”
@BenEzimoha: “Ours is even worse 🤣”
@Mo_Aziz17: “We have 48 hours 😭”
@FodenBall: “It’s worst for city tho”
@austin3mb: “We have Leeds on Sunday and then Madrid on Tuesday”
