Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims AC Milan have shown interest in signing Kyle Walker in the summer transfer window.
Walker has been an ever-present fixture in Pep Guardiola’s side since City signed him from Tottenham Hotspur for £50m in 2017, but the defender has struggled for minutes in recent months.
The England international has started just two Premier League matches in the last two months, with Guardiola preferring to use a system that doesn’t require a conventional right-back.
Walker’s trademark is his incredible pace which is a safety blanket that City used to rely on, but since January Guardiola has adopted a defensive set-up that has no room for the right-back.
With one year remaining on Walker’s City contract, Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to take advantage of the situation.
As has been reported by The Daily Telegraph, the Rossoneri think that there is a situation to exploit in the Premier League and feel Kyle Walker can create competition with Davide Calabria at right back.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
If no move materialises this summer and Walker does not renew terms with City, then he would be free to negotiate with potential suitors come next January.
@adamabdulls: “Good, we can get a new RB”
@Jaybeethefirst: “Let him go”
@JMC_OfficiaI: “Swap with Leao.”
@oluwxnuski: “Swap with Theo and Leao or no deal”
@Joe_mcfc_: “Leao or Theo swap pls”
@KinderDeBueno: “Swap for Theo Hernandez/Leao.”
@Mo_Aziz17: “He is not for sell … Another 2 years left in City shirt.”
@Dbluewhale: “He still has a season in him. Who will replace him? Lewis? He is a good on the ball but not defensively.”
@julianxeh9: “Only fullback along with rico lewis in the club. Can’t sell him unless we get a replacement. But maybe pep’s new formation may not need much fullbacks and Walker isn’t getting game time. Tricky transfer summer for city in terms of what they are going for,”
@GavrocheUSA17: “Only even saying this because he’s been on the bench lately. He was and will continue to be massive for us – just like there’s times Mahrez, Jack, Alvarez, Laporte have been on the bench from decent spells — doesn’t mean we sell them. Pep has done amazing keeping talent rotating”
