Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are showing an active interest in signing Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto in the summer.
The 19-year-old joined the Peacocks last summer from FC Zurich for a fee of around £4m. He took no time to settle down in his new surroundings and straightaway established himself as a key first-team player at Elland Road.
Gnonto has registered four goals and three assists in 20 appearances for Leeds so far this season. He provided an assist on Sunday as Javi Gracia’s side secured an important 3-2 win over Wolves.
The youngster’s impressive displays in the English top-flight haven’t gone unnoticed as the forward has already attracted the attention of several big Premier League clubs, including Man City.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, City, Arsenal and Chelsea are all keen on the 19-year-old, especially if the Yorkshire club are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The report also says that Leeds don’t want to part ways with their star man for cheap so could ask at least £31m if they are forced to cash in on him in the summer.
Gnonto is likely to play a big role in Leeds are to survive in the Premier League this season. The youngster, who has showcased glimpses of his talent during a very short time in the Premier League, was shortlisted for the 2022 Golden Boy award, being named as one of the final 20 players eligible to win it. The award was won by Barcelona midfielder Gavi.
So, purchasing a talent like him would be a great coup for Pep Guardiola’s side if they were to be able to get this deal done at the end of this season.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@catcher_muza: “What for?? Why him when we have Foden, Grealish on the same wing.”
@bahadur18856744: “We’re going to get mid level player again? Just sign world class winger. Kvara or Saka.”
@MisterCity19: “The kid is good, we could do a lot worse. He has pace and is skillful”
@virginmojito: “He’s good tbh but not the level of City.”
@iLikeToScufJump: “Good player not city level.”
@Str_Ide: “Every day I see new linked players to city I don’t even know what to believe no more.”
@callmearchers: “Seeing all these leaks for Mitoma, Kvaratskhelia and now Gnonto, can’t lie would love them all. Just hope at least one actually happens, because despite the fact that I actually think we don’t need too much more depth in the winger department, they would all cook under Pep”
