Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Kalvin Phillips would like to fight beyond this season and try and get into the team.
Since his £45million move from Leeds United last summer, the former Leeds star has endured an injury-plagued start to his career at the Etihad, after failing to start a single game in the Premier League this season.
Phillips has shown quality while playing for Leeds in the past and has also earned himself a regular spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad thanks to his performances.
He has spent a large majority of the season so far recovering from a shoulder injury and playing second fiddle to first-choice Rodri, but he has still not proven himself in the short cameos Pep Guardiola has given him.
The Premier League champions are expected to have undergo a major transformation of their first-team squad this summer, however it is reported that deciding on the future of Phillips is a ‘crucial step’ to understand what is going to happen in the coming window.
According to Journalist Ben Jacobs via TeamTalk, Kalvin Phillips would like to fight beyond this season and try and get into the Manchester City team.
From Manchester City’s point of view, Manchester City still want to assess how Phillips actually develops because he’s relatively new at the football club.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
