Manchester City are ‘ready to make Jude Bellingham a key part of their midfield revamp next summer but will wait to see if Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan stay before deciding on how much to invest’.
Gundogan only has a contract with the Citizens until the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future at the Etihad Stadium.
Bernardo, meanwhile, has expressed a desire to “move to a new project”, with the Portugal international believed to be keen to leave the English champions for family reasons.
If Man City do face an overhaul in midfield, Bellingham is the man they want to lead them into the future as they look to convince him to join the Etihad.
According to ESPN,, Man City are preparing to revamp their midfield this summer, and Bellingham is viewed as a key target for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The England international is expected to inform Dortmund of his desire to seek pastures new this summer, with many of the world’s biggest clubs interested in his signature.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are thought to be the frontrunners alongside Man City, but the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea also continue to be credited with an interest.
Bellingham starred for England at the 2022 World Cup, netting once and providing one assist in five appearances to help Gareth Southgate’s side reach the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old has been in strong form at club level this term, scoring nine goals and registering three assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
Bellingham has a contract with BVB until June 2025, but he is widely expected to depart this summer, providing that his German club’s asking price is met.
Dortmund aren’t in competitive action until their home fixture against Augsburg on January 22. They sit sixth in the standings after 15 games, some nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
