Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of the club’s stance on Atletico Madrid and Portugal forward Joao Felix.
The 23-year-old is set to leave the La Liga giants this month after a falling out with Diego Simeone over playing time in the Spanish capital.
Felix joined the club for around £130m four years ago but he’s failed to live up to his reputation in Madrid, with the forward proving a bad fit for Simeone’s side.
Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered his client to a host of Premier League clubs as Atletico seek to offload the striker.
According to The Athletic, all of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been approached over a possible deal, and are considering whether a move makes ‘sporting and financial sense’.
It is detailed in a recent report that Atletico are seeking an extortionate overall package of £18m for Felix to leave the club on a six-month loan. But no English club is willing to pay that fee, with the three interested parties confident that Atletico will accept closer to around £9m by the end of January.
On the subject of Manchester City, The Athletic report that the Premier League champions are not thought be to interested in the Portuguese forward, despite holding interest in previous seasons.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@TeacherOfBall: Good decision. But we still need players
@Sashank: Good but doesn’t change the fact that a winger is needed regardless.
@YakumiSarai: Of course, City already has Alvarez. They play similarly, with differences, Alvarez being more lethal while Joao is more graceful.
@PricelessTheo: Felix can’t dribble we need a winger who does that.
@King__kb: Probably for the best. I fear he might turn out to be another Grealish. I’m tired of “wing-fielders”
@MCFCOK47: Good he’s another Mahrez/Grealish
@misfermo2: Good. Get Leao
@MrLuciferous: Felix is similar to Foden we don’t need two of them, but we desperately need Rafael Leao, our attacks from the wing are lacking a lot.
