Manchester City and Norway forward Erling Haaland shares what he will be doing during the Fifa World Cup and gives his tournament predictions.
Haaland is arguably the best striker on the planet, but unfortunately for him and football fans across the globe Norway did not qualify for the tournament.
Instead of travelling to Qatar the 22-year-old will enjoy some time off before joining up with Pep Guardiola and the other City players who aren’t going to the World Cup on 5th December.
Speaking during a recent conversation, Erling Haaland opened up on his World Cup plans and predicted who will do well at the tournament.
“First of all, I wish I was playing in the World Cup of course,” Haaland said. “But, that’s reality now. I don’t do. But first of all, I will relax my body and my mind a lot and then I will train.
“What I will train on? Nothing special I think, it’s been going quite well I think, my first months in City so I don’t need to do so much things, or so many changes to be honest. So yeah, it’s about preparing myself for the next half of the season and being ready when the next game kicks in after the break.”
The Norway international forward was unable to select just one favourite, but picked out four countries including one home to multiple Manchester City teammates in England.
Haaland said, “Favourites… I think the favourites should be Brazil, Argentina, France and maybe England. I cannot only say one, because there are so many good teams, so yeah, these four.”
Haaland was honest about his own international ambitions, but with an increasing number of Norwegian players playing at the elite level of the game, he is optimistic.
“Yeah of course, I hope I play for Norway and our dream and reality, the biggest thing we can do is to get to either a World Cup or Euros. That’s of course my goal with the national team to do. We know it’s difficult, but hopefully in the future one day I’ll be able to play them.”
