Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan could leave the club at the end of this season, with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid interested.
The 32-year-old has not been able to agree on a contract extension with the Premier League giants, and he could move on at the end of the season.
Losing a player of his calibre on a free transfer would be a blow for Manchester City, but they are powerless because of his contract.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has emerged as a transfer target for Atletico Madrid, with sporting director Andrea Berta ‘dreaming’ of the German midfielder’s signing.
Gundogan has been one of the top performers at the Etihad Stadium for years now and has been critical to the success the Citizens have enjoyed under Pep Guardiola.
However, the 32-year-old’s contract stands to run down at the end of the ongoing campaign and an agreement over an extension is yet to be reached.
Despite being in his thirties, Gundogan is still going strong and Atletico Madrid would be interested in capitalising on the opportunity to land him on a Bosman deal at the end of the season.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid are concerned over interest from Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to new information..
It is no secret that the Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder is one of the world’s most sought after players, despite only being 19 years of age.
As per Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy, Los Blancos officials perceive Manchester City as their biggest threat in completing a deal for the highly-rated central midfielder.
However, the financial power of the Premier League champions is reportedly not what worries Madrid officials.
It is highlighted – despite being common knowledge among Etihad supporters – that Manchester City are an incredibly well structured and well run club, with good stability across the board that is not always associated with Real Madrid.
