Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson reckons the Premier League should create a ‘silver boot’ for everybody who isn’t named Erling Haaland.
Like everybody, the Magpies striker has been left stunned by the Manchester City striker’s goal scoring exploits since his £52million summer switch from Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian has gone on to score a staggering 14 goals in eight league games including hat-tricks against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.
Haaland is on track to break a host of long-standing records this season with the record of 34 goals currently held by both Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in serious jeopardy.
Wilson discussed Haaland’s impact and joked there should be one award for Haaland and another for everyone else.
“As strikers we’re competing against that so obviously for a striker you score the most goals and here’s a golden boot at the end of the season,” Wilson told the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
“That’s out of the picture, do you know what I mean? That’s gone, he [Haaland] needs his own boot and then we need another boot. We need a silver boot nowadays. We need a little something, to make it fair.”
These Callum Wilson’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.
