Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona owe the club around €52M for the transfer of Ferran Torres.
The Spain international joined Barcelona from City in the January after just one and a half years at the club in a transfer that was set to be paid in installments.
The Spanish forward never truly settled at the Etihad Stadium and wished to return to his home country having initially joined the Citizens from Valencia in the summer of 2020.
Torres (22) went to the Blaugrana for an initial £46.3 million, but his contract also stated that a further £8.4 million could be paid to City if certain add-ons are met.
Despite the deal being concluded in January – and Torres making 26 appearances for Barcelona since then – City were yet to see a penny of the transfer fee due to Barcelona’s financial difficulties.
That’s according to Catalunya Radio that reported that up until now, Barça are yet to pay any of the €52 million fee to the Premier League champions for the Spanish international.
Further details claim that the club will have to pay the full fee to Pep Guardiola’s side this year.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
