Barcelona are ‘determined to make’ Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva their ‘big signing’ next summer, according to reports.
Silva is one of the top players in Pep Guardiola’s team, having helped them win four Premier League titles, four League Cups and one FA Cup during his five years at the club.
He has started this season in fine form too, as he has scored two goals and assisted three more in his seven Premier League appearances.
The Catalan club tried taking the midfielder in the previous two summers but didn’t end up making an offer, neither to him nor to Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Catalans were unable to meet his monstrous €100mn ($97mn) fee mainly down to the amount of cash that had been spent on the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Bernardo Silva remains FC Barcelona’s top transfer target and priority to sign in 2023.
Bernardo’s contract runs until June 2025, meaning next summer could be the last window that City get to make decent money from his sale.
The report claims Manchester City chiefs Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain will not let Silva leave for less than €80m.
Although Silva is happy at Manchester City, his dream from childhood has been to join the La Liga giants. A potential move will be dependent on certain conditions, set by the player, his agent and the English champions.
