The Premier League’s use of VAR has always come under significant criticism with many fans, pundits and players always claiming it to be inconsistent.
Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been on the receiving end of controversial decisions due to the technology – but how has that impacted their league positions?
A recent study from The Yorkshire Post has determined how the Premier League table would look without the use of VAR across matches this season so far.
The study by the Yorkshire Post have worked out how many points teams have gained or lost based on VAR decisions. The table without VAR considers all decisions where VAR has overturned the on-field call.
The Sky Blues are currently second of the table, one point below of Arsenal with six games played already, while cross-town rivals United sit fifth, Liverpool Seventh and Chelsea sixth.
Would Arsenal still be ahead of Pep Guardiola’s men without VAR, or would the Arteta’s side be leading the title race? Well, the answer to that is Below. The table does not consider whether all VAR decisions are correct.
