Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is still keen to bring Olympique Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar to England.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Lyon multiple times in recent years. The French international has only managed one appearance so far for Lyon this season, and according to recent reports, he’s almost guaranteed to leave the club next summer.
According to Goal France, Manchester City are interested in the Lyon midfielder, and could make an attempt for the winter market, though a pre-contract is also on the agenda.
Aouar’s contract at Lyon expires at the end of the season, so all interested parties will be able to sign the midfielder on a free transfer.
Guardiola is a big fan of the midfielder and has said in the past: “We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent.
“He is always very calm with the ball at his feet, with excellent technical quality. Lyon really have a very good team. There are young people full of quality and I think the team is in place tactically.”
The versatility of Aouar could make him an attractive prospect to Guardiola. The French midfielder, like Gundogan, is adept at playing in central midfield, defensive midfield, and on occasion in attacking midfield.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
