Man City cast eye on ‘exciting’ 23-year-old winger

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in signing Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen, according to 90min.

The 23-year-old France international winger has done well for Bayer over the years. He has impressed so far this season for the German club, and more and more clubs are registering their interest in the Portuguese International.

90min have reported that scouts from Manchester City were in attendance to see Diaby in action for Bayer Leverkusen against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

As per the report, also present at the BayArena were representatives from Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle United – who have a long-standing interest in Diaby.

Diaby – who is “exciting” and “quick and tricky”, according to European football expert Kevin Hatchard – scored the second goal for Bayer in the 87th minute.

Central midfield is a priority for Pep Guardiola’s side, but the chance to sign a winger the quality of Diaby will not be passed up on.

Given that the former Paris Saint-Germain winger has experience of playing in major European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League makes him even more appealing and attractive to top clubs.

The winger has given one assist in six Bundesliga appearances and has scored one goal in two UEFA Champions League matches for Bayer so far this season.

Last season, the winger scored 13 goals and gave 12 assists in the Bundesliga, and scored four goals and provided 10 assists in the league in 2020-21.

It is certainly one to keep an eye on as Diaby continues to impress, the Premier League is hard to turn down these days.

The report of the club’s interest in Diaby shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
