Manchester City have been handed a boost as Jack Grealish has returned from injury just in time to face Sevilla on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stage campaign.
City are coming off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday, while Sevilla were beaten at home by Barcelona.
The City boss has been handed a further boost as Grealish looks set to return from a spell on the sidelines in time to face Sevilla on Tuesday and Tottenham on Saturday.
According to Manchester Evening News, Grealish has now returned from injury ahead of City’s packed fixture schedule.
Guardiola was debating bringing Grealish on against Villa over the weekend but didn’t want to take the risk.
“We thought about it at one-zero but he trained just two days,” the City boss said.
“If we had scored two, for sure we would have had him in. Jack started the season really well and we need players so it’s good to have him back.”
The 26-year-old has been underwhelming since making the big money switch from Villa last summer.
On his second return to Villa Park on Saturday since his £100 million move to Manchester City, Jack Grealish won over the Aston Villa supporters again.
Now he must hope for a similar reaction from the City fans as he prepares for what he hopes is something of a second coming.
Grealish has failed to live up to his sparkling reputation since joining City for £100m last summer. He does not play like the free spirit he was at boyhood club Villa, the improvising artist given complete creative freedom to create his masterpiece.
