Manchester City are interested in signing Barcelona starlet Gavi, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
The teenager has established himself as an integral member of the Catalan giants’ squad, despite his young age, and has already been capped 10 times at senior international level.
Barcelona boss Xavi has been full of praise for the youngster in recent times, hailing his ‘spectacular’ ability and maturity within the game.
However, the youngster has entered the final year of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of June 2023.
According to Graeme Bailey of 90mins Sport, Manchester City, United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have all held meetings about the availability of Barcelona midfielder Gavi in recent weeks.
The report states that Gavi had agreed to sign a new long-term deal with Barcelona earlier this year, but the club’s financial issues meant this was no longer viable a few months back and frustration is mounting in the player’s camp.
Barca remain confident that the player will sign a new long-term contract very soon, but they are aware of the interest that has emerged from their failure to tie one of their prized assets down to this point.
