Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims EFL Championship club West Bromwich Albion have made a loan request to sign Liam Delap.
The 19-year-old striker has been tipped for great things as he has shown glimpses of his potential in the junior ranks at Manchester City.
Contracted until 2026, Delap is a big prize in a devastatingly good City youth side and Guardiola is already aware of just how talented the youngster is.
Delap has made six senior appearances for City, with just one start – in which he netted in a 2-1 EFL Cup win over Bournemouth in 2020.
He is highly-rated by the Premier League champions but with Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland added to their ranks in the summer, the England youth international is obviously going to find it very hard to get regular football.
City reportedly rejected a £16million bid from Southampton for Delap, with Stoke City the latest club to be credited with a chance of landing the highly-rated forward.
Guardiola has admitted now that he feels that the attacker – who netted 24 times in 20 games for City’s Elite Development Squad in 2020-21 – is at the stage where he needs senior football.
West Bromwich Albion, who are in desperate need of a fresh forward option amid their number nine injury crisis, are hoping to complete a loan deal for the Manchester City striker.
According to Alan Nixon, Steve Bruce is already making moves to sign a striker for West Brom and has identified Liam Delap as his main target.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“As long as he’s able to get games then why not”

“He needs to be loaned out to a Premier League side. This kid is too talented to be playing in the Championship..”

“Would be a fantastic move for all involved I think. West Brom have created so many chances with Swift and Wallace at the heart of most of them. Liam Delap would start most matches and would bag a hatful.”

“They’ve got Dike as a striker. Delap should easily start for them”

“West brom are perfect I must be honest, they’ve got no striker other than Karlan Grant who’s apparently more of a winger and he’d most likely start every game.”
