Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kalvin Phillips is not fit to face Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The England international joins Aymeric Laporte on the sidelines, who has been ruled out of the first month of the season at least following the surgery he had after the last campaign
Phillips made his City debut as a late substitute in last week’s victory over West Ham but will not be part of the squad in our first home game of the new Premier League season.
Speaking in his usual media briefing on Friday, Guardiola said Phillips and Palmer may be unavailable on Saturday, although their problems are not expected to keep them out for as long.
“Kalvin has some niggles and won’t be able [to play]. Cole Palmer had a knock in his feet in the last days and is a doubt for tomorrow,” he said.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
