Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are plotting a late swoop to sign Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney this summer.
The Citizens are in the market for a new first-team left-back after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to join up with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
The Premier League missed out on signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton and Hove Albion after rivals Chelsea swooped in and sealed a deal, and consequently, are now targeting full-back alternatives.
Pep Guardiola’s side currently only have one recognised first-team left back in the squad in Joao Cancelo, and are keen to bolster that area before the close of the transfer window.
Renan Lodi is a target, as is Raphael Guerreiro. Meanwhile, they have also shown interest in Borna Sosa.
According to The Telegraph, City could turn to Tierney, a proven Premier League left-back, rather than players with little to no experience of playing in England.
Zinchenko’s strong start to life in north London under Arteta could leave the Scotland international falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.
The Scottish defender has struggled with injuries since arriving from Celtic for £25 million back in 2019, missing a total of 48 games for the Gunners in just three years.
The Scottish international came off the bench in Arsenal’s opening game against Crystal Palace last Friday night, replacing the former Manchester City man Zinchenko in the 83rd minute leaving his future in question.
The report of the club’s interest in Kieran Tierney was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“This makes absolutely zero sense so we give them our LB that is a great solid LB just to say ok we might need to buy your LB that is always injured and that’s why they got zinchenko.”
