Stoke City look set to wrap up a loan deal for Manchester City striker Liam Delap, with David Ornstein revealing a medical will take place today.
Delap is among the highly rated stars in the Citizens’ youth set-up and has been attracting transfer interest throughout this window.
Delap has been touted as a potential departure from City for the majority of the summer, with Southampton having a reported £16m bid rejected by the Manchester giants for the teenage forward
While several other clubs have been keen to sign him on loan, Stoke City have been mentioned as a potential destination for Delap for much of this summer transfer window.
The Potters have now won the race for Delap as they have reached an agreement with the Premier League champions over a loan deal for him.
According to David Ornstein via the Athletic, the Championship club will sign the attacker on loan for the season, with Delap joining the club that his father, Rory Delap, became a cult icon at, with the defender’s explosive throw-ins under Tony Pulis becoming the stuff of Premier League legend.
Delap is set to undergo a medical ahead of his temporary switch to the bet365 Stadium, where he will continue his development under Michael O’Neill, who is looking to lead his side back into the top flight.
Manchester City see Delap having a future at the club and have not agreed to include a purchase option in the deal to send him to Stoke.
Delap only put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the Etihad Stadium last month and will now be hoping to take his game to the next level on the back of regular game time under O’Neill.
