Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays an update by Fabrizio Romano on the club’s pursuit of Athletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi.
The Citizens are in the market for a new first-team left-back after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to join up with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
The Premier League missed out on signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton and Hove Albion after rivals Chelsea swooped in and sealed a deal, and consequently, are now targeting full-back alternatives.
Pep Guardiola’s side currently only have one recognised first-team left back in the squad in Joao Cancelo, and are keen to bolster that area before the close of the transfer window.
The Premier League champions are closing in on a deal to sign Sergio Gomez, however, the 21-year-old is expected to head straight back out on loan.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi is one of several options on Man City’s left-back shortlist.
According to the latest from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Renan Lodi has been a Man City target since July but talks are not progressing. As things stand, a deal is off.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“What does it mean? Have we actually tried to communicate with them or we are not approaching them just yet.”
