Bernardo Silva has broken his silence on his future, amid speculation he is wanted at Barcelona this summer and admits that he does not know what will happen.
Barcelona want to sign Bernardo, and Pep Guardiola last week said he doesn’t know if the popular Portuguese playmaker will stay at City after September 1.
Reports on Tuesday claimed that City and the Catalans had reached an agreement for the 27-year-old’s transfer, and in an interview with ESPN published 24 hours later, the midfielder was asked how he views his future.
“I’ve always said that I’m happy here, but I have no idea what’s going to happen,” Silva admitted.
“We’ll see, honestly. My relationship with the club is very honest. I’ve been open with them and they know what I want. If I stay, I’m very happy, and I will always respect this club and give all my best. If not, it’s football and we’ll just see what happens,” he suggested.
“It’s a big club, and they don’t want players who are not happy at the club. They always say to all of us that if you’re not happy, you can go. Of course, they are in business and they want the right amount of money for letting us go, but personally it’s a relationship with the club that is very respectful. They have always been honest with me and I have always been honest with them.”
These Bernardo Silva’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“And this is why he’s leaving. I just don’t understand if you want to stay say you’ll stay stop hinting for an exit every transfer window.”

“Bernardo clearly wants to go and Barca want to sell FDJ so why don’t we just do a player plus cash deal… Bernardo is worth more than Frenkie?”

“I love Bernardo Silva, and will always do. If he intends to leave, I wish him the very best. However, I prefer he stays with us.”

“I can’t believe there’s still noise here. City have to stop this from happening so late in the window. Screw the let unhappy players leave policy. He’ll get a happy high when he wins trophies. Can leave next season then..”
