Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Phil Foden has agree a new long-term contract at that will tie the England star down down for six years.
The England international has not had a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium since December 2018, and those terms are due to expire in the summer of 2024.
The 21-year-old is understood to have verbally agreed to a new contract in the autumn, but he is yet to officially commit his future to the Premier League champions.
According to the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan, his ever-successful stint is set to continue under Guardiola’s intricate coaching after signing a new long-term deal to extend his stay at the Citizens to almost 20 years.
The new deal is expected to tie him down for six years and see him more than quadruple the basic £30,000-a-week contract he signed in 2018. It will make him one of the highest-paid young players on the planet.
Mike Keegan states that an announcement is expected in the coming days or early next week – but bosses at the Etihad Stadium are delighted with the news ahead of the new season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
