Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea are closing on the first major signing of the Todd Boehly era at Stamford Bridge after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Raheem Sterling.
The 27-year-old star has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with the forward concerned about his game time after starting 23 of 38 league games last season.
Sterling, who joined from Liverpool in a £49m deal in 2015 and has scored 131 goals in 339 games, is a major transfer target for new Blues owner Todd Boehly.
It is understood Chelsea are yet to lodge a formal bid for the England international, but one is expected shortly.
The Athletic claim Sterling has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and it is expected the two clubs will agree a transfer for the 27-year-old.
Sterling was ‘impressed with Tuchel’s vision for the club’ and ‘it is now believed a deal will happen imminently’.
The forward joined City from Liverpool for £44m in the summer of 2015 and he’s expected to make the switch to west London for a similar up front fee.
He is expected to join Chelsea in their pre-season tour of the United States, according to The Independent, after completion of a deal understood to be £45m with a potential of £10m in add-ons.
As per other reports on Wednesday evening, the final fee is expected to reach a figure in and around the £45m mark, with the clubs now locked in negotiations.
The departure of Sterling from Manchester is now expected to free up a position for Erling Haaland to thrive in Pep Guardiola’s side.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Once again showing our weakness at selling our players. Last week it was we want £60 million and now we’ve already gone down by £15 million. £45 million is still a decent fee but I just don’t understand why we budge so easily..”

“Total 55mil? Fair price for last year of deal but important that we replace him!!”

“This is as good as it can get with Sterling considering he has one year left in his contract. And I think that amount of money can help City to get a new LB.”
