Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea could eye a summer move for Raheem Sterling, as the London club plan to offload one of their forwards in preparation for next season.
The England winger is set to enter the final year of his contract and, having lost his regular starting position, has been linked with a move this summer with Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham, Real Madrid touted as potential destinations.
The attacker’s current contract at the Etihad expires in 2023, meaning he could begin negotiations about a potential free move away from City in just nine months’ time. He is either expected to renew his deal or to leave in the summer transfer window.
As per a report by Matt Law of the Telegraph, Chelsea could consider a move for Raheem Sterling, as they could offload one of their forwards such as Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic in the summer.
It is stated that selling ‘one or all’ of that trio would see Chelsea ‘consider’ a move for Sterling if he ultimately decides not to sign a contract extension with City.
Additionally, it has also been stated that while Tottenham and Arsenal are also ‘interested’ in signing the Englishman, the 27-year old would consider Thomas Tuchel’s side a ‘more attractive option’ in his peak years over the North London clubs.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“No no no ,, he’s not for sale,,
The guy scored 13 league goals on his bad season, play him with Haaland and he’ll give you 20 goals and 10+assists.”
