Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola has targeted Leeds midfielder, Kalvin Phillips as a possible replacement for Fernandinho.
Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for midfield replacements with Fernandinho set to leave Manchester City this summer when his contract expires
City have identified a central midfielder as one of the positions they must address this summer and have already ruled out a move for West Ham’s £100m-rated Declan Rice.
The Cityzens have now emerged as contenders to sign Kalvin Phillips in the summer. The £50million-rated Leeds and England midfielder’s future at Leeds is under the scanner amidst the uncertainty of Leeds potentially bein relegated from the Premier League this season.
Manchester United have been working on a deal to sign him despite suggestions that Phillips might not be prepared to burn his bridges with Leeds by joining the Red Devils.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester City are prepared to battle Manchester United for the signature of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer.
The report states that Manchester City manager believes Phillips would be the ideal addition and that he is one of the best in the business in the Premier League.
Phillips moving to Manchester City is likely to be more palatable to Leeds United and their fans over the prospect of him joining Manchester United.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
