Pep Guardiola said Manchester City will give Erling Haaland all the time he needs to settle as he dismissed the suggestion that the forward will not work in their team.
Almost two weeks ago, Manchester City confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland â who is set to officially join up with the Blues squad on July 1st.
Some have raised doubts about the Norwegianâs suitablity to the way that Guardiolaâs City play. But the Spaniard has now hit back at those who have questioned Cityâs decision to buy Haaland.
âI hear that heâs not going to adapt to the way we play. I would like to ask how is the way we play? Iâm pretty sure they donât know it,â he said of those who have questioned the move. âIâm pretty sure they adapt well.
âJulian [Alvarez] is coming, weâre going to help him to adapt well. I think the players when they are good and normally it happens in these type of clubs â they have good vibes and energy to stay positive to understand and to help. Our way to play is so simple.
âIâm pretty sure [Haaland will adapt]. I have to know him to give a real opinion and work with him. But when he scores his amount of goals it is because he is good and intuitive.â
Guardiola also warned his rivals that Haaland was signed for the long-term, not just to have an immediate impact. The City boss insisted that he had no doubts about the impact Haaland can have when he links up with his new team.
âArriving in a new country and new house and friends and all these kind of things, you have to adjust. Thatâs why he has to settle here, start, have good holidays, come back here with no injuries and start to work and play.
âIf it takes weeks, great. If it takes a month, great. He hasnât come here for two or three months, he comes for many many years I hope. If he needs more time, there is more time. We will try to help him and Iâm pretty sure he will try to help us. I donât have any doubts about that.â
These Guardiolaâs comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the clubâs supporters.
