Ruben Dias has backs Manchester City to thrive at the Santiago Bernabeu in Champions League semifinal next week.
City edged a thrilling encounter at the Etihad on Tuesday night to ensure they will take a slender advantage with them to the Bernabeu.
Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva helped them to a 4-3 victory, with Karim Benzema’s double and Vinicius Junior’s goal keeping the Spanish giants in the tie.
The Blues had looked to be on course to run away with the tie after racing into a 2-0 lead just 11 minutes in, but they found themselves continually pegged back by Carlo Ancelotti’s side. With just one goal separating the two sides, it’s still all to play for heading into the second leg.
There are fears Pep Guardiola’s side may live to regret their profligacy as both Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea were sent crashing out of the competition late on when they had been holding leads in the tie.
Ruben Dias believes Manchester City are the right sort of team to thrive in the Santiago Bernabeu. A repeat performance at the other end from City will surely see them add to their impressive tally.
“We are aware of what team are we facing, the impact they have in the Champions League and the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu,” said Dias.
“But we know our goal and what we need to achieve it. We are going to play with our personality and try to win.
“The Bernabeu is a mad place, but Man City is also a mad team. We will be ready for it.”
These Ruben Dias’ comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
