Gabriel Jesus could be a wildcard option to start at right back in the absence of João Cancelo and Kyle Walker tomorrow vs. Real Madrid C.F in the UEFA Champions League.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be without the services of Walker due to an injury. Cancelo, the natural replacement, is also suspended from the game. To add to this, John Stones may also be unavailable for the game.
Jesus has been on-form for Manchester City in the past few games. The Brazilian played out one of the best performances of his life against Watford on Saturday to help Manchester City get a 5-1 win.
The Brazilian attacker scored four goals and provided an assist for Rodri’s goal as he produced a “ten out of ten” performance in the Premier League. Hence Jesus solidified his case as a possible starter against Real Madrid.
However, he has played more as a substitute for the Sky Blues this season. Hence there is a question mark surrounding his status for the UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid.
Following Gabriel Jesus’ match-winning performance against Watford, Pep Guardiola was quizzed whether the striker would start against Real Madrid. Hence the City manager claimed that he could play Jesus as the right back.
As per Manchester Evening News, Pep Guardiola stated, “With seven games – if Gabriel had to play right back, he’d play right back. So it’s not a problem, when the players feel we are in real trouble, the players do an extra, they will do it.
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Its actually not a bad idea:
1. he has pace for Vini
2. he knows Vini (Brazil mates)
3. his workrate pressing are the best amongst our attackers.”

“Pep please just don’t overthink and play KDB in defence or something weird.”

“I agree with him, we need to change the formation because we don’t have our players intact. We can play 3:4:3 so that Jesus and zinchenko or Ake can play as inverted wing backs.”

“Not that bad idea, actually. He can run and defend/press well from his stats. Though I still prefer John Stones or Walker there.”
