Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are expecting to sell Yangel Herrera in the summer.
Herrera has never played for City since joining the club in January 2017 from Atletico Venezuela in his homeland. He instantly left on loan to sister club New York City in the MLS. He has been in Spain ever since, first for six months with Huesca and then for the past two seasons with Granada.
The Venezuelan international has spent the season at Espanyol (August 2021 – present), playing 18 times in all competitions, but it doesn’t appear he’ll have a future back in Manchester when his loan is up.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Premier League leaders ‘expect to sell’ Herrera when the summer transfer window opens and are are hopeful that they could get as much as £20million for the 24-year-old midfielder.
Herrera was briefly considered as Fernandinho’s long-term replacement due to his fine form at Espanyol, but it appears Guardiola has opted against it now.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

“Good price for him to be fair. Surprised he was never seriously considered as an option back here considering that he’s killed it on loan literally everywhere he went.”
