Bayern Munich are ‘interested’ in signing Manchester City’s Pedro Porro this summer after having ‘closely followed’ the player for some time now, according to reports from Portugal.
The 22-year-old – who is yet to make an appearance for the Citizens since arriving from Girona in 2019 – is currently enjoying the second part of his two-year loan spell with Sporting.
Sporting have the option of signing Porro on a permanent deal this year, and the Portuguese giants are reportedly negotiating the final details with the Citizens to buy the Spaniard..
Although Sporting are working to sign the Man City owned player on a permanent deal, his future could be away from the Portuguese club and precisely at Bayern Munich.
According to Saturday’s edition of A Bola as relayed by Sport Witness, the Bundesliga champions are ‘interested’ in the fullback.
The report claims Sporting official admit Porro’s sale in the next window is possible, if there is an offer of at least €30m, and went ahead to points out that, even before selling the player, the Portuguese club must first buy him from City.
It is further reported that Pep Guardiola’s side have an option to buyback Perro for €17m, but will not exercise it allowing Bayern to make an approach for the Spaniard.
Earlier this week, renowned Newspaper Record, reported that Sporting can sign Porro for €8.5m (£7.2m) and are closing in on his signature, but the two clubs are negotiating a buyback fee.
Record went ahead to claim City want the option to bring the Spanish international back to the Etihad Stadium for €20m (£16.8m) before green-lighting his transfer.
While City have no cause for concern at right-back at present, it is testament to Pedro Porro’s burgeoning talent that including a buy-back clause was a major priority for the English giants.
In Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo, Manchester City have a strong claim for having arguably the two best right-backs in the world at their disposal.
