Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have been Inform of the possible availability of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in the summer market.
It’s no secret that the Citizens are in the market for a new striker after losing Sergio Aguero in the summer, increasing the likelihood of a high-profile name arriving at the Etihad Stadium in 2022.
The Cityzens did sign Julian Alvarez in January from River Plate to become Aguero’s successor at the Etihad. But the 22-year-old may not feature in a City shirt until next January as he is back on loan at River Plate.
For an immediate striker solution, Guardiola remains intent on adding another, more experienced, goalscorer to his ranks before the next season kicks off.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is seen as a key target, but with lot of competitions for his signature, the Cityzens will definitely be looking for other alternatives.
A report from 90min suggests Manchester City, United and Chelsea are among a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Lewandowski’s situation.
The report claims Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also among the clubs who have been informed of Lewandowski’s possible availability.
However, as per 90min, the 33-year-old’s destination could depend on Erling Haaland, who the German champions are hopping to follow in Lewandowski’s own footsteps from Dortmund to Bayern – a move that happened in 2014.
Lewandowski’s contract expires next summer and there are no concrete signs of an extension just yet for the Poland International, who scored 48 goals last season, and this season already has 39 goals to his name.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
