Borussia Dortmund are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City as part of a deal for Erling Braut Haaland.
The Premier League champions have been strongly linked with a move for the striker since last year and are now leading the race to sign him.
The Blues are trying to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker as they look to belatedly replace Sergio Aguero in their team, having failed to land a marquee forward in the last summer transfer window.
The highly-sought megastar is being pursued by a number of Europe’s elite sides, but Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to be his most likely destination ahead of the decisive summer transfer window.
It have been revealed that whoever signs Haaland will have to pays over £300million overall, which includes clauses, agent fees and City are one of the only clubs who can afford his hefty transfer.
According to 90Min, Dortmund would potentially be willing to accept a player-plus-cash deal including Jesus Gabriel for Haaland, should City secure an agreement with the Norwegian goal machine.
The 24-year-old – despite having such a promising start to the campaign – has found minutes hard to come by as of late. He has scored only six goals in 29/44 games across the board this season, amassing 1765 minutes from a possible 3960.
With rumours continuing to swirl surrounding City’s interest in Erling Haaland, the future of Gabriel Jesus, who has little over 12 months remaining on his contract, have been thrown into major doubt.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this month that an internal decision is yet to be made at Manchester City on what the future holds for the Brazil International.
The capture of Erling Haaland could see City cash in on Jesus despite previous reports suggesting that the Premier League champions are confident on securing a contract renewal for the Brazilian.
With City being increasingly tagged as the favourites to close a deal for Haaland and the impending arrival of Julian Alvarez from River Plate in the summer, it remains to be seen whether Jesus stays put in Manchester and decides to fight for a place in Guardiola’s side or whether he opts for a new challenge.
