Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays another update on the club’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland.
The Norwegian marksman has been widely tipped to seek a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season, with City joining a whole host of top clubs with a shared interest in securing his signature.
Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Norwegian goal machine is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.
Haaland, who remains under contract with the Black and Yellow until 2024, has already netted 22 goals in 19 appearances for Dortmund this term despite injury concerns.
Such remarkable progress in Germany has invariably put the Norwegian goal machine on the radars of many European football clubs, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid among his suitors.
According to ESPN, despite Man City’s interest and ability to compete with any financial package presented to Erling Haaland by Real Madrid, the Premier League champions lag behind the La Liga side in the battle to sign the Norway international.
The La Liga giants had a quiet transfer window back in the summer, choosing to save their cash despite losing defensive duo Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.
The report states Real are hoping to land Haaland for £66million due to a clause in his contract and are also aiming to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappe, too, whose existing deal at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the campaign.
In light to the update on Haaland, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.
If he doesn’t wanna play for us, let him go. We can’t be begging him as if we’re desperate. https://t.co/1EqrzJOREm

We know this, but there are many twists and turns ahead

I’m not arsed honestly if he didn’t come to City. In our decade long dominance in PL, we don’t need this kind of player. We certainly don’t need them now as well.

If he chooses Madrid so be it I want players who want to be here for the club

Look he’s clearly confused about playing for us . We don’t need another Ferran in our team who’ll simply leave if anything goes against what he’d hoped for . So better sign a striker who wants to play for us and loves our club

Don’t know why so many people seem shocked. This was always gonna happen and has been hinted at for the past couple months now.
I wouldn’t panic, there’s always time for things to change. We’re willing to pay the ridiculous fees, it just depends on the player. No Txiki nonsense https://t.co/RA8S62FWEi
