Manchester City are reportedly considering launching an €85 million swoop for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic in the upcoming January transfer window.
Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Citizens are expected to spend big on a new centre-forward ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Serbian forward, who is who is attracting interest from nearly every top side on the planet, scored 21 goals last season, and has 14 in 16 already this term, further adding to his growing reputation across the continent.
Man City are one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in Vlahovic, and according to La Repubblica, the English champions are desperate to win the race for his signature.
Fiorentina have set an asking price of €85 million on their prized asset, which the English champions are considering paying at the manager’s insistence, the report claims.
The report adds that Guardiola is ‘in love’ with the Serbia international and views him as the ideal player to lead the team’s line in the coming years.
Vlahovic, also linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham, is believed to have rejected the chance to sign a new deal with his current club, who could be forced into a sale next summer, as the forward’s contract is due to expire in June 2023.
It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola’s side do go ahead and splash the cash to bring the 21-year-old to the Etihad Stadium in January, which could open the doors for Ferran Torres to join La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.
